Therapeutic Horsemanship (TH)

SIDE WALKER walks beside the horse during each lesson. The primary responsibility of a Side Walker is to provide safety to the rider through various holds taught during Side Walker training. Other duties include assisting with lessons and barn duties as needed.

LEADER
After gaining experience in lessons as a Side Walker, volunteers are needed to lead horses in lessons. A mentorship program teaches the inexperienced and experienced the techniques and horse management duties needed to become a Leader. A Leader's primary duty is to lead the horse safely throughout the lesson. Other duties may include Side Walking or barn duties as needed.

HORSE HANDLERtake part in a mentorship program to learn the techniques and standards involved with getting horses out of pasture, groom them, tack and untack them, and take them back to pasture. Horse Handlers are also needed to help with general stable duties and horse care. Other duties may include Side Walking or Leading.

OFFICE AND SPECIAL EVENT  volunteers assist with filing, data entry, copying and special event activities. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

BARN/GROUNDS HELPER assists with maintaining the barn and grounds. This includes cleaning stalls, mowing, gardening, weed trimming and other jobs per volunteer's skills.
